OzAnime

This site gets updated occasionally. Frankly not very often.

The Release Schedule page you may find pretty useful. It contains every anime released in Australia, that I know of. If I've missed something, please let me know. (I believe some childrens' series may be missing...)

There are a handful of reviews. Mostly they cover how much I enjoyed watching prticular DVDs rather than getting into technicalities such as artefacts and colour bleed. Frankly if I can see what's happenig I'm usually happy with the picture.

My intention is to make this site a resource for Australian anime fans, new and old. So if you have anything to contribute, please let me know using the "Contact Us" link on the left...

I had a link here for submitting reviews, but after one and a hanf megabytes of submitted reviews of assorted pharmaceuticals, I've removed the link. If you want to submit a review please do so using the feedback email address. (If that doesn't work, do a whois on this domain and email the contact address listed there.)

Personal Favourites

Gunbuster - Many heart-wrenching moments
Fruits Basket - Funny and moving
Princess Nine - Great Drama
Scrapped Princess - Great mix of fantasy/drama/comedy
Steel Angel Kurumi (Season 1) - Bubbly fun with an upbeat ending
Ai yori Aoshi - Touching romantic comedy, set against a harem comedy background
Sakura Wars TV - Decent CGI, great characters, gripping plot
Read or Die OVA - Spectacular action with a moebius twist
Twelve Kingdoms - Gripping Fantasy Drama, cut tragically short
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Still a great mecha drama
Irresponsible Captain Tylor - Laugh-out-loud funny
Ranma 1/2 Season 1 - Gender bending martial arts comedy
Serial Experiments Lain - Intriguing exploration of the nature of reality in a digital world
Elfen Lied - Shockingly violent at times, but at its core a sad tale on the destructiveness of human misunderstanding

I could keep going but I have to draw the line somewhere... several of the above are imports. However don't let that stop you; some companies such as DVD Pacific offer substantial discounts. An entire 26-episode series for under A$40 is not uncommon.

For Australian purchases, I've found Atlantic DVD gives good value - typically $5 (approx. 16%) off per title with minimal shipping costs.

Personal Dislikes

Golgo 13: The Professional - Helicopter Scene: Worst. CGI. Ever.
Sin: The Movie
King of Bandit Jing - No characterisation, no plot - no interest
